Kiss of Death
John McCain Endorses Mitt Romney
-by Scott Rohter, January 2012

“You can fool all of the people some of the time, and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time!” –Abraham Lincoln... However, you can apparently fool enough of the people enough of the time to become the Senator from Arizona if your name is John McCain.

“In the case of ‘Goldfinger’ everything he touched turned to gold.  In the case of John McCain, everything he touches turns to bombs and bullets.”

I was never really wondering who John McCain would endorse.  The thought had never even occurred to me, until the news media reported on it.  And frankly I don’t care who he endorses!  It doesn’t matter!   Why would someone even want John McCain’s endorsement, after his regrettable performance against Barack Obama in 2008?  I thought he was all washed up after that, and his career about over, but he somehow managed to get elected again to the U.S. Senate from Arizona, by ‘flip-flopping’ on the issue of illegal immigration. When it came time to vote again in 2010, he had almost everyone in Arizona convinced that he was a big  proponent of  securing the border. That was quite a stretch for John McCain! He almost had himself convinced!  Maybe Abraham Lincoln was  wrong when he wrote, “You can’t fool all of the people all of the time,” because John McCain certainly managed to fool enough of the people in Arizona, to win back his Senate seat for a 5th consecutive term, after his disastrous loss to Barack Obama in 2008!

John McCain told us during the last Presidential Election that Barack Obama was a good man, and that the American people had nothing to fear from him.  Oh really?  If you compared Barack Obama to a glass of Budweiser, then John McCain might be thought of as a ‘Bud Light’.  That is, all except for his gung-ho, pro interventionist, military views! On that he definitely has more gusto than Barack Obama!  His view on the conduct of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and on the drawdown of our troops, certainly has differed, and continues to differ, from that of Obama.  But McCain was 100% with him, when Obama decided to bomb Libya!  And on matters having to do with the U.S. Military, we know that John McCain is always ready at a moment’s notice, to drop another bomb, or launch another American missile at some country that doesn’t like us, or to send the United States Marines somewhere in the world where they are not wanted, at the President’s sole discretion.  We all know that John McCain is a military interventionist.  We know that any war is a good war to John McCain, and that there is no misdeed so insignificant that a resounding rush to arms in the air and boots on the ground can’t rectify it.  As long as we are bankrupting our country over some foreign military adventure that promises to “bring democracy” to another God forsaken hell-hole, then John McCain is okay with it!  That’s because in order to have a New World Order, you first have to destroy what’s left of the old order, and break all of the old countries of the world across your knee! Then you can get what’s left of them to just go along with your ‘New Order’!

However, here at home John McCain is just another liberal who supports open borders, illegal immigration, and a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal aliens!  And he would do absolutely nothing at all to defend our country from that!  He co-sponsored the McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill twice during George Bush’s two terms in office.  Did you forget about that?  Did you forget how John McCain lamented the death of his personal friend and mentor, Ted Kennedy?  He called Ted Kennedy, “The lion of the Senate.”  Instead of that, he should have said that his friend was accustomed to lying in the Senate, not the lion of the Senate!

So with all of the baggage that John McCain brings to the table, and also remembering just how hard most Republicans had to hold our noses, in order to vote for him the last time around, is it any wonder then that John McCain chose to endorse Mitt Romney last week?  I’m sure it was probably something that was expected of him, and that he was just following some kind of political protocol, but protocols notwithstanding, I think it’s a much bigger puzzle, that Mr. Romney didn’t distance himself a little more from the open borders Arizonan!  Maybe they actually have a lot more in common than just flip-flopping on the issues!  Just because John McCain took the nomination away from Mitt Romney in 2008 is no reason for Romney to do something that could hurt his own chances this time around.  Maybe this illustrates just how out of touch Mitt Romney really is with the average Republican voter?  I would guess that the Kiss of Death in the form of an open endorsement from John McCain would actually do more to hurt Mitt Romney than to help him.  So if Mitt Romney is actually as smart, as people say that he is, then why didn’t he get out in front of this public relations nightmare, and put a little more distance between himself and John McCain?  Or could it be that they actually have a lot more in common then we really know?
