Farther To The Left Too!

-By Scott Rohter, August 2011

Conservatives aren’t moving farther to the political Right. It just seems that way to some. We are actually holding our ground and trying to stay right where we belong. We are solidly anchored on the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. We are trying to hold off an onslaught of liberalism, and "progressive" ideas, and we are trying to reclaim territory that has already been lost to the political Left Wing of the Democrat Party. But we are not moving to the political Right. In fact we are not moving anywhere. It just looks like we are moving farther to the Right because the political Left keeps moving farther and farther to the Left. We are only trying to get our country back to the place where it used to be, but that place keeps getting farther and farther away. The engine that is driving all of this disturbing change in America is not the Conservative Movement, because conservatives aren’t moving. We aren't even budging. We are very much in the same place with respect to the Constitution, and the relationship between the Federal Government and the States that we were 235 years ago when the country was created. While that may not seem to be politically popular to some people today, it is actually a good thing. Tradition and stability are not bad things at all.

The movement that is driving all of this social and political change in America today is the Socialist Movement of the "Far Left". As the Democratic Party keeps moving farther and farther to the Left, the more moderate Leftists among them are leaving the Democratic Party, and becoming Republicans. By registering as Republicans they are changing the demographic face, and the character of the Republican Party too. The Republican Party is not changing these Leftists. They are changing the Republican Party, and in so doing they are moving the Republican Party farther to the Left too. Rather than forsaking the Democratic Party and becoming Republicans, these moderate Leftists should remain in the Democratic Party and try moving it back to the political Right instead.
