The Unlegislative Branch of Government
It's Time for a Moratorium on Congressional Legislation
and a New Birth of Freedom across America.

Here's a novel idea. Instead of making new laws Congress should just concentrate on repealing bad, unwise, outdated, and unnecessary laws.  Instead of being our legislative branch of government Congress could be our Un-legislature. Think of it. Instead of members of Congress trying to make a name for themselves on Capitol Hill by writing or co-sponsoring endless amounts of freedom sucking legislation, they could all go down to the Congressional Library and search for bad laws that need to be repealed.  If this idea caught on it might spread to our various state legislatures and we could experience a new birth of freedom across the land.

For over 237 years Congress has been passing laws. Our country has enough laws already. We have more laws than Americans have freedoms. There are more laws in the United States that limit our God given rights than we actually have rights. We have more laws on the books than we have libraries to contain them all. Freedom in America is literally under siege.  The laws that Congress passes are not friends of the Constitution. Congress doesn’t need to pass more laws. It needs to repeal bad, unwise, and outdated laws and we should start right now by repealing the Affordable Care Act which shouldn't have been passed in the first place. The Federal government does not have the right to force Americans to buy anything.

There is nothing in the Constitution that requires Congress to pass more laws. It merely says that Congress has the right to pass laws when new laws need to be passed and when that time comes then Congress has the sole authority to pass laws in order to meet the circumstances. The President does not have this power. The courts do not have this power. Only the Congress has the power to pass laws, but laws are not always what is needed. Sometimes it is better not to pass new laws. My grandmother used to say that too much of anything is not good. We already have way too many laws and too many of them are unnecessary and unwise. So why is everybody on Capitol Hill in such a big hurry to pass more laws? I’d like to see Congress start heading in a new direction.  Our elected representatives should take a pledge not to pass any more laws untill our country absolutely needs them. Let’s have a moratorium on Congressional legislation. Let’s begin to repeal all of the unnecessary and unwise laws that we already have.

Congress can start right now with HR 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
